I have been involved in some form of art for most of my life. It began with my mother teaching me to sew at a young age, then in school, participating in the various art programs that were offered. In college, I studied design, life drawing and acrylics and dabbled in pottery, ceramics and stained glass. I have been a quilter for many years and would classify myself as a contemporary quilter, meticulously precise, and a lover of vivid colors and intricate designs.
It seems that throughout my years of artistic endeavors, my love of color has prevailed. I have two wonderful daughters, Alyson and Megan, who are both equally talented in the arts. I give full credit to Megan for introducing me to the world of fused glass. It only took a couple classes to help me realize that this was something that I should pursue. I have been fusing beautiful pieces of dichroic glass and creating exciting and unique pendants and earrings which I have enjoyed selling at various art & craft shows for the past several years. After being introduced to the Houston Society of Glass Beadmakers (aka Houston Hotties), it seemed only natural that I should incorporate my love of fusing with the art of lampworking. The two seem to go hand in hand for me and complement each other. My lampworking has now taken the next step, to a more individualized group called the Texas Hot Flashes. The world of art is ever evolving. I hope that you enjoy my work and follow me on my journey! |
