Another very worthwhile organization that I am interested in contributing my time and effort to is the "Beads of Courage". The "Beads of Courage" is an outreach program for children with cancer. The program, "Beads of Courage", is designed to honor the challenging journey that these children take while experiencing cancer and related treatments. Through the program the children are given certain beads to represent certain procedures. The collection of beads become a symbol of their courage and serve to honor milestones they have achieved along their treatment path. Throughout their treatment they can use their "Beads of Courage" to visually show and tell family and friends of their experiences of courage!

The Houston Society for Glass Beadmakers (aka Houston Hotties) of which I am a member, is presently participating in a challenge to provide purple hearts as well as bright and colorful bumpy beads for the children. There are currently 52 members in our group and we have made many purple hearts and bumpy beads to contribution to the group.
